NOLLYWOOD PART 1

Nollywood is the name of the nigerian movie industry. the story of

nollywood started in 1992 when "LIVING IN BONDAGE" was created the

movie sold more than 500,000 copies in its first week, because of its

incredible success many more movies have been created since then and

it has now established itself as a multibillion dollar industry.Nollywood is

notorious for making low quality movies, an average movie is made in 10

days and sells about 50,000 copies. Most Nigerians lament at the poor

quality of the movies, and sometimes make the mistake of comparing

Nollywood to Hollywood and Bollywood forgetting that both industries

are at least 50 years older than Nollywood. Nollywood is not run by

billionaires or by the government so critics should bear in mind that high

quality movies such as those made in Hollywood, it is just a matter of

time Hollywood didn't start at its present level.
